Every Canary quietly notices the others around it — a low-power radio hello, no Wi-Fi, no broker, no cloud. Plug one in and read that list straight off the device: which Canaries it's heard, how recently, and how they say they're doing. Nothing leaves your machine.
The fleet it hears
Connect over USB and this Canary tells you the roster it has picked up over the air. This is presence, not proof: it means "I heard this device recently," self-reported and unsigned — never a verified trust claim. (To verify a specific device is really yours, use the randomart check.)

What "unsigned" means here
The witness log your Canary keeps is signed and tamper-evident — that's the evidence you can trust. This roster is a different, lighter thing: a liveness list built from the little presence hellos devices broadcast. Anyone could broadcast one, so a name in this list is "heard nearby," not "authenticated." It's here so multi-device ownership is legible offline — not as a security boundary.
