Are you a maker?
Privacy shouldn't require a soldering iron. Most people can't print, wire, and flash a witness for themselves — but you can. Join the corps that builds these and gets them into the homes of people who can't build their own.
Privacy is for everyone
A witness that keeps its pixels shouldn't be a luxury for the technical. The people who'd benefit most — elders, renters, the non-technical — are the least able to build one.
The device vouches for itself
Every Canary signs its own build and health. So a “certified build” isn't a badge you trust — it's cryptography you can check. Provenance over paperwork.
Built together, in stages
Like a repair café for building: learn it in the browser, build a real one, then help someone who can't. You grow through tiers, at your pace.
Four tiers — earned, not bought
Certification follows the same six stages as the Lab. You start where you are, and the hardware verifies the milestones for you.
Apprentice
Complete the Lab journey — build a Canary virtually, end to end. You understand what each stage does and what the device promises. Costs nothing; start today.
Builder
Print, wire, and flash a working device. It's verified automatically by the signed self-test the Canary emits on first boot — no forms, the hardware certifies you.
Certified Maker
Ship or install a unit for someone who couldn't build it, and pass a safety, privacy & consent checklist. You'll be listed in a public directory with reviews.
Steward
Mentor new makers and host local build days. Stewards give the corps a face in each town — and turn a hobby into a movement.
Raise your hand
This is early — you're joining a roster, not taking a job. There's no account and no database we keep: you introduce yourself with a pre-filled GitHub issue, and your GitHub profile is how the corps reaches you. We store nothing.
Post it, and you're on the roster.
We opened a pre-filled GitHub issue in a new tab — post it and you're in, out in the open. While the corps takes shape, earn your first tier: build a Canary end-to-end in the Lab.
